Joseph E. Johnson Elementary School is a public school in Wilmington, Delaware within the Red Clay Consolidated School District. Formerly known as Highlands Elementary School, the institution was renamed Joseph E. Johnson Elementary School in 2022. They provide students with a diverse range of afterschool programs and a comprehensive Unified Arts curriculum, ensuring a wide range of opportunities for the student’s academic journey and skill development.

Dr. Chrishaun Fitzgerald is the Principal at Joseph E. Johnson School, who brings her love for all children to this role. Dr. Fitzgerald has over two decades in the field of education that have spanned both Washington, DC, and Delaware, with the last 10 years leading Red Clay schools in the city of Wilmington.

As a leader of a Wilmington Learning Collaborative school, Dr. Fitzgerald believes that each scholar embodies a seed of greatness and that it is the job of Joseph Johnson Elementary School to water the seed so that each scholar demonstrates excellence every minute of the day.
